Rick Jones, Director of Operations
Rick has worked in quality management for 25 years as quality manager, auditor, consultant, and trainer. He is renowned for his insight, passion for helping businesses, and friendly approach.
Rick has conducted over two thousand quality audits, managed and implemented multiple quality systems in a wide variety of industries, and developed and delivered training courses on Quality, Improvement, Auditing and Process Management. Rick brings a unique perspective to his clients, having worked as both an auditor and auditee, plus having extensive experience with both manufacturing and service businesses.
Rick’s skills in risk management and custom implementation of management systems have helped one organization after another work easier. By improving their customers’ satisfaction, and improving the bottom line, Rick has helped companies ranging from small family-owned firms to large multinationals.
A graduate of Queen’s University, Rick is a qualified QMS Lead Auditor and experienced in ISO 9001, Z299/N299, CISC, and GMP.
John Penkala, Lead Consultant and Trainer
John has supported the implementation of Quality Management Systems and Integrated Management Systems in over 50 organizations and has developed and delivered training courses on Quality, Health and Safety, Improvement, Auditing and Process Management. John also serves as a Lead Assessor for Quality Management Systems.
John continues to work as a Lead Auditor across a wide range of organizations in several different industries. With experience in the application of Management Systems within SMEs, as well as complex multinational organizations, he has a demonstrated ability to effectively apply International Standards in many different organizational settings and cultures.
His project management skills and ability to utilize process standards to improve performance without adding unnecessary bureaucracy are assets to anyone considering ISO-based systems implementation as a means to improve consistency and business performance results.
John is a Lead Auditor for Quality Management Systems, has a Bachelor of Arts in Science and Technology Studies from York University as well as an Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technicians Diploma from Humber College.
Devon Matthew, Lead Consultant and Trainer
Devon Matthew is a Lead Auditor for ISO 9001, a HACCP Lead Auditor, and holds a Certified Quality Auditor designation from the American Society of Quality. He has been in the Quality and Food Safety field for 25 years, and worked as a Consumer Products Officer enforcing various consumer protection legislation which included the Consumer Packing and Labeling Act, Food and Drugs Act, Meat Inspection Act, Canada Agricultural Products Act, Textile Labeling Act and Precious Metals Marking Act.
Following a career with the Federal Public Service, he worked in Quality and Food Safety Assessments along with consulting engagements in a variety of industries, for companies big and small, from the Federal and Provincial public service to manufacturing, distribution and information technology. He has extensive experience in all aspects of food safety and production, and is exceptional at providing organizations with a level of confidence that the systems producing their products meet internationally accepted food safety protocols and standards like ISO 22000. More recently, audits have been conducted at packaging companies to the ISO 22000 and 9001 Standards including Varalia, Printpack and Coca Cola, to name just a few.
Supporting the registration of companies to both Food Safety and Quality Standards, Devon has consulted to companies covering various sectors from Produce Processing for both Organic and ISO 22000 registrations. Devon is also experienced in SRED Consulting engagements that enabled clients to maintain their competitive advantage by undertaking various process or product improvement initiatives.
Devon majored in biology at St. Mary's University in Halifax, and is certified as a Lead Auditor with Exemplar.
